Web ideas! - Building smarter, faster websites

Whilst developing web solutions for our clients, we often invest a lot of time researching the latest web updates and 3rd party products (such as amazing jQuery plugins). We typically pass these findings onto our clients, by way of suggesting how we can further improve the performance and functionality of their website. Ideas on how we can help

W3C Validation

W3C Validation is an important aspect of website design and ongoing development. W3C Validation is a contributing factor for a website's ranking (i.e. your position in Google) and it helps prevent websites behaving unexpected across different browsers. Contact forms

Adding a contact form to your website is a relatively straightforward process, and it allows visitors (i.e. potential customers) to contact you via email. A form means someone can send an enquiry at any time of the day, and at their own convenience. More and more people rely on electronic comms as opposed to using the telephone.

Icons

Those glossy or satin effect images scattered across websites work. There's no denying it. They add focus, call to action and effect to websites, which otherwise would be a little plain by today's standards. We have access to hundreds of thousands of royalty stock images, so can be sure to have something suitable.

Overlay (Pop-ups)

With Overlays you can display images, html content and multi-media source in a "lightbox" effect that floats over that top of a web page. It's gradually replaced the 'popups' that browsers now typically block.

Search Engine Optimisation (SEO)

If you have a website, and you want customers to easily find you using search engines like Google and Yahoo, then you should seriously consider a SEO campaign. Put simply, SEO is about achieving and sustaining, high rankings across the major search engines.

Sliders / Accordions

An Accordion is an interactive set of collapsible web panes (containers) that allows you to display them one at a time. It's a great way of including lots of information on a single web page without taking up too much space. Each page can be expanded or closed simply by clicking on it to access the required information.

Tableless structure

960 Grid System
The 960 Grid System is an effort to streamline web development workflow by providing commonly used dimensions, based on a width of 960 pixels. There are two variants: 12 and 16 columns, which can be used separately or in tandem.

Content Management Solutions (CMS)

Whilst we favour MODX as our preferred CMS, there are countless other CMS solutions available, such as Drupal, Wordpress and Joomla. If you're looking for a web solution that would enable you to publish documents, and make regular amendments to your website we recommend you consider a CMS. Alternative if you need to make infrequent changes to just the website's content then we offer our own Lite-CMS solution that allows you to make changes to a web page with great ease, in much the same way as you would use Microsoft Word.
